Peanut Butter Carob Chip Bones
2 cups unbleached white flour
½ cup carob chips*
¾ cup all-natural smooth peanut butter, no salt or sugar added
¼ cup vegetable oil
¾ cup water
½ cup wheat germ
*Available at health-food stores and some grocery storesDIRECTIONS:
In a large bowl, mix all the ingredients. Knead the dough on a floured surface. Roll out the dough to ½ inch thickness, and cut out shapes with a dog bone cookie cutter. Put the cookies on a baking sheet, ½ inch apart.
Bake at 350 degrees for 30 to 35 minutes. When done, the cookies should be firm to the touch. Turn the oven off, and leave the cookies in for 1 to 2 hours to harden.
Yield: Approximately 55 two-inch cookies.
